Riding

My trials bikeIt seems that in recent times I’ve picked up a few new sports. These include the resurgence of a trials bike in my life, and kites. Mostly these have been afforded by the drudgery of night shift, though every cloud and all that. I’ve taken to learning them in the same manner as I began climbing, that is to say slowly, doggedly and by using the internet a great deal. Here’s a couple of photos to show how the progress is, updates will come as I get time to fit them in around all the other pursuits.Kiting at Daimer The real aim is to kite into the Corries this winter which may be the definition of optimism!

There is little better than grabbing the trials bike and playing on the kerb for half an hour though, do try it sometime if you get chance.

I feel like slackline definitely also fits in the playing section! Slacklining is a pretty fun way to kill time. It’s best shared with friends on rest days in campgrounds around the world. Of course, being who we are, highlines sometimes appeal and a few years ago I was on a bit of a highlining romp.  With some friends I managed to set up and perform the first crossing of a line from Napes Needle in the Lake District. As well as this I’ve Napes Needle Highlinewalked high lines at the Rostrum in Yosemite, three first crossings in the peak district and a number of other places. These days it’s more just another fun place to throw some somersaults on a sunny day! Have a look in the videos section for some of the better ones!
