This weekend = perfection?

There were a few iterations of perfection this weekend. Firstly this:

Forth Kayaking 2 This weekend = perfection?

Kate and I went out in our boats for the final run before the honeymoon. Splitter weather for the first half of the run meant we could see deep into the water, count multiple jellyfish with every stroke and spend the whole day in a T-Shirt and buoyancy aid. After a brief sojourn to visit Incholm Abbey we headed cross tide to Crammond and then home along the coastline. 20km in just over 4 hours. Heres to this type of perfect weather and conditions for the coming events of the month!

Sunday was perfect procrastination. A lazy breakfast, board games, music and early glasses of wine meant that the expedition packing took a back seat. I’ve started to notice that what once was a crucial and favoured part of early expeditions has become somewhat of a chore. I think its just become a lot less complicated. I used to puzzle over 1 pan or two, whether to use a certain stuffsack, which shoe will be the right choice but now I know. Its a satisfaction to feel comfortable, to know now that the gear choice will never cause me an issue, that I can relax and enjoy the pursuit. However packing now sucks!

Now we’re ready though, and we’ll head back for the party and build up to the wedding that will surely fill the next few days in the lead up to the wedding!

Come Sunday however we’ll be off, boats packed and all going well we’ll be camped in Oban ready to launch! A description of the trip is here. To stay up to date follow me on Twitter and check back here for blog updates and loads of photos of kayak bows! Wish us luck.

Finally I’ve put up a new review of La Spotiva’s Baturas so check that out here.
